Description

A delicious grilled sandwich featuring rich burrata and crispy sourdough.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 ball fresh burrata cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter (softened)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: Fresh basil leaves or sliced tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Start with good bread: Choose thick-cut sourdough or artisan bread with a sturdy crust. It holds the burrata well and crisps beautifully. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice.
  2. Prep the burrata: Gently tear the burrata ball open and spoon the creamy center onto the non-buttered side of one slice. You don’t need to overfill—burrata is rich, and a little goes a long way.
  3. Layer your extras (optional): If using fresh basil or thinly sliced tomatoes, add them over the cheese for added brightness and depth.
  4. Assemble the sandwich: Top with the second slice of bread, butter side facing out.
  5. Grill to golden perfection: Heat a skillet over medium heat and drizzle a bit of olive oil. Place your sandwich in the pan and cook slowly for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula. The goal is a deep golden crust and thoroughly warmed burrata.
  6. Serve warm: Once both sides are golden and the burrata is irresistibly gooey, remove from heat and let it sit for one minute before slicing. This helps the cheese settle slightly and keeps everything from spilling out too fast.

Notes

  • This sandwich is best served immediately while the cheese is warm and gooey.
  • Experiment with additional toppings like roasted red peppers or arugula for added flavor.
