Description
This Honey Garlic Turkey is sticky, savory, slightly sweet, and incredibly satisfying.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Brown the turkey in olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. I like to let it sit undisturbed for a minute or two at first — this helps develop a little golden color and deeper flavor. Cook until fully browned and no pink remains.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant. The smell at this stage is incredible — warm, savory, and comforting.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and black pepper to make the honey garlic sauce. Pour the sauce directly into the skillet with the turkey. Stir well so every bit of meat is coated.
- In another small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Stir it into the skillet and let the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes. The sauce will thicken into a glossy glaze that clings beautifully to the turkey.
- From heat, finish and garnish by sprinkling with sliced green onions. Serve hot over steamed rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice.
