Description

Delicious fish tacos made with crispy fried fish and topped with a creamy avocado sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb white fish fillets (cod or tilapia)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 tsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 corn tortillas
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse fish fillets under cold water, pat dry, and cut into strips.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs until fluffy.
  4. Dip each fish strip in the egg mixture then coat with the flour mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry coated fish until golden brown (about 3 minutes per side).
  7. For the crema, blend avocado with lime juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  8. Warm tortillas in a skillet or microwave.
  9. Assemble tacos by placing fried fish on tortillas and topping with avocado crema and cilantro.

Notes

  • Can substitute fish with any other preferred white fish.
  • Adjust seasoning according to taste.
