Description

A delicious garlic herb cheese bread that is perfect as a side dish or a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour (can substitute with bread flour for a chewier crust)
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast (ensure it’s fresh for best results)
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar (can replace with honey)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (avoid overuse to keep dough from becoming dense)
  • 1 cup Warm Water (should be around 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (can replace with melted butter)
  • 0 cups Butter (softened, use unsalted to control salt levels)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced, can substitute with garlic powder)
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Italian Herb Blend (fresh herbs can be used but adjust quantity)
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese (melts beautifully for gooey texture)
  • 0 cup Parmesan Cheese (adds savory depth, can use pecorino Romano)
  • 0 cups Fresh Parsley (chopped, recommended for a pop of greenery)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Yeast Mixture: Combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: Whisk together flour and salt, adding half of the grated mozzarella and parmesan.
  3. Combine Mixtures: Pour yeast mixture into dry ingredients and add olive oil. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough: Knead on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First Rise: Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Prepare Herb Butter: Mix softened butter, minced garlic, and Italian herb blend in a small bowl.
  7. Shape the Dough: After rising, punch down dough, roll into a rectangle, spread herb butter, and add remaining cheese and parsley. Roll tightly.
  8. Second Rise: Place seam-side down in greased loaf pan, cover and let rise for an additional 30-45 minutes.
  9. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and sounds hollow when tapped.
