Description

A hearty and flavorful chili made with ground beef, beans, and spices.


Ingredients

Scale
  • pounds ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 (15 ounce) can red kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes (with juices)
  • 14 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1½ tablespoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil

Instructions

  1. Brown beef in a large pot over medium high-heat with garlic and onion. Cook until no pink remains and drain the fat.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, turn down to a simmer and cook uncovered for 45-55 minutes or until it thickens.

Notes

  • This chili can be served with cornbread or over rice for a complete meal.
  • Feel free to adjust the spice level by adding more chili powder or diced jalapeños.
